Did you know that every year there are more than 300 million tons of plastic in the worldand that only 9% is recycled?

Plastic is a material that takes hundreds of years to degrade, and that contaminates the soil, water and air. In addition, it affects the health of animals and people, causing diseases and altering the ecological balance.

Therefore, from smöoy, we have decided to take measures to reduce plastic consumption single use in all our premises, and so contribute to a more sustainable world.

How we have reduced the consumption of single-use plastic.

Our commitment to a more sustainable world began in 2021, when we launched our campaign to eliminate single-use plastic from all our locations. Since then, we have managed to significantly reduce plastic consumption, stipulating more than 5 tons of plastic eliminated.

As we have done? Looking for more ecological and responsible alternatives to replace the packaging, utensils and accessories that we use in our products.

For example: straws made with PLA (poly lactic acid, a compound of biodegradable polymers derived from potato starch and corn) and reusable stainless steel spoons, which we use in all our stores and serve at our counters.

In addition, we have renewed our agreement with WWF (World Wildlife Fund) to continue participating in various activities of conservation of biodiversity in Spanish forests and ecosystems, and allocating part of the profits of all our ice cream parlors to environmental defense and commitment.
